This peace crane painting was created during the COVID-19 Spring Quarantine and the Black Lives Matters protests of June 2020. She was inspired by my other peace crane mixed media paintings, “Taking Flight” and “Peaceful Journey.” I’ve been making origami cranes and painting them for 10 years now because they symbolize Peace, Hope, Health and Longevity. They are near and dear to my heart and always remind me of my dear friend Lisa whom I lost to cancer at the age of 47 in 2012. My wish for this piece of art is for it to bring a sense of Peace, Unity, and Love to all who see her. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this painting will go directly to fund the MaryLea Harris Scholarship for Women in Art.
